PhotoIreland Festival 2012

So it has started! The Festival I mean, now in it’s third year. Many people have been preparing for this for months and months and months, organizing their exhibitions and prepping their works. ‘fourteen12’ is a show I have been working on for the last four months and it’s had it’s two (yeah two, don’t ask) openings. The second one being last night at the absolutely fucking wonderful Little Green Street Gallery: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Little-green-street-gallery/205343356172814

I have been giving orders (but in a niiiiice way) to 14 people (the 14th being myself) for so long now and they finally came to fruition yesterday. I’m kinda sorta glad it’s over because it was a little bit stressful at times. However, it is so great to be part of the festival and I hope next year that I might have a solo show for it.

This is a link to the works that were on show: http://www.source.ie/graduate/2012/naticollce/naticollce_index.php

‘fourteen12’ runs until July 11th

PhotoIreland runs until July 31st. It’s such a fantastic festival :)

About:

Just as the ocean continues to push a seemingly never-ending supply of rocks towards the shore, the World pushes an unquantifiable multitude of visuals towards us. For the artist, these photographic opportunities present themselves in such abundance that choosing one or more to photograph is tantamount to walking up and down the length of a beach and choosing one rock after another to throw into the waves, watching how far it travels, and the impact it creates. We can only take a few rocks at any one time. Something is photographed, and launched back into the world from which it came; having once gone unnoticed it can now be reconsidered Think of these images as an exploration of figurative rocks. Throwing them back, one after another, in to the ocean they came from. Patricia (Trish) is 24 years old and is a fine art graduate. She takes her camera everywhere and wants to photograph (mostly) everything she sees. She's based in Dublin, Ireland. She works in a lil' cute organic coffee house in Wicklow and freelances as a photographer when not serving coffee to strangers. (All images are hers, unless otherwise stated) She also has a modest website: https://sites.google.com/site/patriciamccormackphotography/ web hosting
